With self-publishing, the author undertakes the publishing function. Apricot Books will get your book into print and you will own these books. You are then responsible for promoting and distributing your book. But you also keep all of your rights.

Although Apricot Books does not offer an editing service, we do refer qualified editors upon request.
Page layout describes the way in which text, photos, charts, and other elements are situated on a page. A page layout which contain no photographs, tables, charts, bullets, or indexes can be created by Apricot Books at minimal charge. If your page layout is more advanced, we would be able to provide a quotation to have our designers create your page layout.
If you are creating your own page layout, then you may need to adjust the page layout of your book. The page layout of your book should be adjusted to look exactly the way it should for printing. This includes choosing the font for the text and headers, as well as the margin size and location of the page numbers. This is something that you can do yourself using a basic computer and software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, or Adobe InDesign.
Please be sure to include the fonts that are used in your document.
The cover design is the single most important marketing tool used to sell your book. Apricot Books can provide a professional custom book cover design for you. If you have illustrations or photographs you would like to include in your book cover design, our designers will incorporate these images into your cover design.
Files may be submitted in a variety of ways. The most common is by regular email (for files under 5 megabytes in size). Our email address for file submissions is info@apricotprint.co.nz. Files larger than 5 megabytes (usually containing photographs) can be sent using our ftp site. An ftp site is a simple way to transfer large files quickly and easily. To send your files by ftp, click here. Files may also be copied to a disk and sent to our location.
It may be necessary to print out one copy of your book from your computer's printer. A printed copy is useful when submitting a Microsoft Word file. We use the printout you provide to compare with the files stored on the disk to ensure the files were not altered in any way while transferring from your computer system to ours. A printed copy is not necessary when sending a PDF file. PDF is an acronym for "Portable Document Format". Once a file has been into a PDF, it can be opened on any computer without problems such as text or photograph shifting. You can create your own PDF file with the proper software.
You may provide a short biography (approx.100 words) and good quality photograph of yourself. If supplied, your photograph and short biography will be incorporated into the design of the back cover of your book at no additional cost.
You may supply good quality artwork or photo image to be incorporated into the book cover design by our graphic designers. This may be in the form of a photograph, negative, print, or high-resolution scanned image (300-600 dpi).

Paperback books and books with dust jackets need cover art, including a short summary and author's biography and photograph.
